Federal

REMEMBER, THIS IS YOUR DATABASE. A VERY COMPLETE AND ROBUST FOUNDATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED. HOWEVER, YOU MIGHT FIND THAT YOU NEED/WANT SOMETHING CHANGED. IN MOST CASES THAT CHANGE CAN BE MADE. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION COVERS FEATURES OF THE “FEDERAL” TABLE THAT ARE NOT OBVIOUS AND SELF-EXPLANATORY.

Federal

You will need to add the district court in which you practice if you want it to show up without requiring input. The information that gets entered into the “Attorney”, “Paralegal”, and “Appellate Attorney” fields comes from data entered into the Representative table.

Selecting “Remanded” or “Reversal with pay” in the “District Result” field will expand the Attorney Fees section. Selecting “Denied Appeal” expands the Appellate section.

Total Net Federal Fee is: 1) “EAJA Amount Received” or 2) if “406b Received” has a date then “406b Amount Approved” minus “EAJA Amount Received”.

To record time spent on a federal case click “New” under the “Federal Time” tab at the bottom of the Federal screen. A new screen will open and the current date and time will automatically be entered. Enter your task in the “Notes” field and click save. You will go back to the Federal table. When you want to stop the time tracking, scroll down to the bottom of the Federal screen and click the red STOP button. All time is rounded up in six minutes increments. A task taking 3 minutes will record as 6 minutes; 14 minutes as 18 minutes, etc. That can be changed to real-time, 10, or 15 minutes.
